Build your pirate legacy

Crosswind is a premium action game. It is a survival MMO set in a rich and dangerous world of piracy, betrayal, and supernatural forces. You begin as a freelance captain stranded after a mission goes wrong, trying to survive and rebuild your fortune amidst rising empires, pirate clans, and ancient dark powers.

At its core, Crosswind is a seamless blend of survival, crafting, naval combat, and Souls-lite melee fights, wrapped into an expansive open-world experience. The vibrant world is procedurally generated, offering endless possibilities as you sail through open seas and explore a variety of biomes.

Take command of powerful ships

Crosswind feels vast and exhilarating. You gather materials, craft your shelter into a thriving outpost, recruit a crew to assist in harvesting, and build and command various ships, from nimble cutters to monstrous galleons. Combat is highly skill-based, requiring parrying, dodging, and timing, whether fighting enemy pirates on land or blasting rival ships at sea. The world evolves dynamically, with new factions and storylines introduced through frequent updates.

The thrill of boarding enemy shipsbombarding coastal forts, or simply singing sea shanties with your crew between battles gives the game an authentic pirate feel. Exploration is rewarded with hidden treasures, rare resources, and challenging bosses that test your combat skills and strategic planning. Managing survival needs, such as food, health potions, and crafting oils, adds an extra layer of preparation to every journey.

Whether you're crafting intricate forts, raiding enemy strongholds, or navigating faction rivalries, it captures the romanticism and brutality of the pirate era with modern depth of gameplay. It's a pirate survival game where your choices, skills, and alliances genuinely matter. Every sea shanty, every cannon fired, and every sword clash tells a piece of your unique story on the high seas. However, it can feel grindy without a crew.

The much-awaited Alpha playtest

The Alpha playtest for Crosswind is now live, giving you an early chance to dive into the pirate survival MMO. This playtest features around 30 to 40 hours of content where you can explore a procedurally generated archipelago with three distinct biomes, three bosses, three flyable ships, and one NPC merchant vessel that can be captured. Plus, early systems for ground combat, naval warfare, and a first iteration of boarding mechanics.

This Alpha marks the first non-NDA playtest, running for at least four weeks, though with intentionally limited server slots to ensure stability and gauge player feedback. Access is granted via a Steam sign-up pool that randomly selects participants. If you miss out, your application remains active for future tests, and occasional Discord giveaways or content-creator access can improve your odds.

Sail, fight, and conquer

Crosswind delivers a vast and challenging pirate survival experience where every choice matters. Seamlessly blending naval battles, land combat, crafting, and exploration, it lets you live out a true swashbuckling fantasy. Master your ship, build outposts, fight powerful bosses, and navigate faction wars. The dynamic world constantly evolves, offering endless adventure, brutal survival challenges, and the thrill of shaping your pirate legacy across the open seas.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
